Installing Meta Imaging Series 6.0 Using a USB Key

NOTE: DO NOT PLUG IN YOUR USB KEY UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO BY THE INSTALLER!!!

These instructions are to be used with Windows XP Professional SP1 systems upon which no version of Meta Imaging Series software for Rainbow Technologies USB Key driver software has been previously installed.

Please note that the following instructions have been researched and tested to be the preferred method of installing the USB drivers required by the MIS Key. Other methods can be used, but they can render the system unable to use the USB key and therefore unable to run the Meta Imaging Software.

We found that it is possible that a failed or improper installation of the Windows XP Professional drivers for the MIS Key can lead to one having to re-install Windows XP Professional and Service Pack 1.

These instructions should not be used on a system which already have Version 5.0 installed with a USB key. Please refer back to the general installation instructions under these circumstances by clicking here.

1. Insert the Meta Imaging Series 6.0 CD.
2. Click on Install Meta Imaging Series 6.0.
   
3. Click Proceed.
   
4. Click Update Windows.
   
5. Click Accept.
   
6. Click OK.
   
7. Click YES.
   
8. Go into Window Explorer.
9. Click on the Meta Imaging Series CD located on your CDROM drive.
10. Double click on the UICMENU.EXE Icon (840KB Application).
11. Click on the Install Meta Imaging Series 6.0.
    
12. Click Proceed.
    
13. Click Accept.
    
14. Click OK.
    
15. Click YES.
    
16. Click Proceed.
    
17. Click Accept.
    
18. At this time insert USB KEY and click OK!
    
19. Found New Hardware Wizard.
    
20. Install the software automatically (Recommended).
21. Click Next.
22. Default path will already be selected (c:\windows\inf\oem1.inf).
23. Click Next.
    
24. Click Finish.
25. Go to an Explorer Window.
26. Click on the Meta Imaging Series CD located on your CDROM drive.
27. Double click on the UICMENU.EXE Icon (840KB Application).
28. Click on Install Meta Imaging Series 6.0.
    
29. Click Proceed.
    
30. Insert your Code Floppy.
31. Click Retrieve Code from Floppy Disk.
32. Click Next.
    
33. Select your Destination Folder.
34. Click Next.
    
35. Select the Program Group.
36. Click Next.
    
37. Click Install.
    
38. Click Close.
